{"id":49,"date":"2013-04-10T04:23:08","date_gmt":"2013-04-10T09:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/?p=49"},"modified":"2014-01-27T23:28:52","modified_gmt":"2014-01-28T04:28:52","slug":"the-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/?p=49","title":{"rendered":"The Land"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The land, oh the land of my siblings and my youth and now Sharon&#8217;s, John&#8217;s and my elder years.<\/p>\n<p>The land was my father&#8217;s pride and joy, it was his kingdom.\u00a0 I never understood that, had no idea whatsoever of its meaning until I knew it through my husband.\u00a0 I fully understood what the home my husband and I shared meant to him.\u00a0 A man is a provider.\u00a0 The place that gets under a man&#8217;s skin and into his heart, the place he truly knows as home for his family, is his castle.\u00a0 In my father&#8217;s case, his castle came with a bit of land he could nourish and farm and could pass along to his children.<\/p>\n<p>It is good to be back on the land of my parents.\u00a0 I am older and as a result, I of course have a greater appreciation for my father&#8217;s and my mother&#8217;s work off the land which enabled us to have it and on the land which enabled it to provide for us.\u00a0 In turn, I have a greater appreciation for the provisions the land made for my family and me.\u00a0 We were well fed, well exercised, well played and well sheltered.\u00a0 It even served as a springboard to two marriages, my little sister&#8217;s and mine as we held our wedding receptions on the land.<\/p>\n<p>I am so anxious to garden again, to have John enjoy the infamous Hanover Tomatoes that not only have I raved about to him for years, but have been documented in books by none other than Dr. Kay Scarpetta (as authored by Patricia Cornwell).\u00a0 I am anxious to plant fruit trees.\u00a0 I am anxious to landscape.\u00a0 I am anxious for John to have an observatory.\u00a0 I am anxious for my sister, Sharon, to again feel the pride and stewardship she felt when the land came to her after our mother&#8217;s death.\u00a0 I am anxious for John and me to be its modern day stewards and to keep it in Anderton lineage ownership for as long as is possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/land1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-95 aligncenter\" alt=\"land1\" src=\"http:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/land1-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/land1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/land1-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/land1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The land, oh the land of my siblings and my youth and now Sharon&#8217;s, John&#8217;s and my elder years.
