{"id":70,"date":"2013-05-02T02:28:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-02T02:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/?p=70"},"modified":"2013-11-14T05:53:12","modified_gmt":"2013-11-14T05:53:12","slug":"dont-blame-me-i-was-drawn-that-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/?p=70","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;I&#8217;m Not Bad, I&#8217;m Just Drawn That Way&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just like Roger Rabbit, our house is being framed!\u00a0 Woohoo!<\/p>\n<p>I have never had a house built for me before and thus far in this process have had some erroneous preconceived notions obliterated.\u00a0 For example, I always thought the frame was completely vertically constructed, *always*.\u00a0 Not true.\u00a0 The framing subcontractor for our house horizontally built the walls that were erected today (I love that word).\u00a0 The studs, the windows framed out, the Tyvek, everything was put together on the subfloor and lifted into place.\u00a0 Boom, a so called pre-fabbed wall up in seconds (or so it seemed).\u00a0 Maybe all or many, many are done like this, but I don&#8217;t think so because I&#8217;ve driven by and seen too many framed skeletons get their walls and then their walls get the Tyvek or whatever the builder is using.\u00a0 The builder was on site today and I mentioned my amazement at the process, even down to the Tyvek.\u00a0 His rejoinder was, &#8216;it is called House Wrap after all, not House Flap.&#8217;\u00a0 Made me laugh out loud cuz I have seen Tyvek flapping in the wind on a few houses being constructed.\u00a0 The Tyvek on this house is not moving, I tell ya, not nary an inch.<\/p>\n<p>Later, in the early evening after John and I had had our dinner and the framers had gone home to their own, John and I returned to the house with a ladder.\u00a0 We snuck into our own house like neighborhood kids trespassing to check out the new house on the street while wondering if there was going to be a &#8220;new kid on the block&#8221; living there, would it be a he or a she, a cool kid or the opposite.\u00a0 We walked the subfloors, peered out the two thus far framed windows and enjoyed the roofless panoramic view.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a great house already!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/first-wall_5_1_13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-78 aligncenter\" alt=\"first wall_5_1_13\" src=\"http:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/first-wall_5_1_13-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/first-wall_5_1_13-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/first-wall_5_1_13-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/leehallfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/first-wall_5_1_13.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just like Roger Rabbit, our house is being framed!\u00a0 Woohoo!
